TTUHSC School of Nursing Dean to Step Down

School of Nursing Receives Chair
Covenant Health System recently announced a $1 million gift to the TTUHSC School of Nursing to establish the Covenant Health System Endowed Chair in Simulation and Nursing Education.

School of Nursing faculty member named a Fellow of the American Academy of
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing announced that Rod Hicks, Ph.D., R.N., professor and UMC Health System Endowed Chair for Patient Safety, will be inducted into the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners on July 29.

Chair named for Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Edward Yeomans, M.D., has been named the new chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the School of Medicine in Lubbock. Widely recognized for his distinction as an educator, Yeomans joins the Health Sciences Center from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

A time honored tradition, the School of Medicine Scrub Party, is sponsored each year by Drs. Brad and Priscilla Snodgrass (SOM '88). First year medical students have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and alumni and receive their first set of scrubs. The party holds a special place in the hearts of many, alumni and students alike.

School of Medicine students, alumni and faculty, you're invited to a Back-to-School Picnic Saturday, August 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, buns, chips, condiments, water, soda, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided by the SOM Office of Student Affairs.
